India ranks 4th in the world tea exporters. India offers high quality and strong tea varieties including those cultivated in Darjeeling, Assam and Nilgiri. USA, UK, Iran, Kazakhstan, UAE, Germany, Pakistan and Russia import tea from India. Russia is the largest tea importer. Almost 30% of tea exported from India is imported by Iran and Russia. During 10 months of fiscal year 2018-19 total export value of tea was 4,478.9 crore rupees.
India is leading country when it comes to the export of Basmati rice. Malaysia, USA, France, Benin, Saudi Arabia, China, Indonesia and Japan etc are importers of rice from India. India is about to reach its highest export in FY19 that would be about 30,000 crore rupees. It is attributed to high rice demand by Iran and continuous increase in paddy price from year 2017 to 2019.
India stands 3rd in the row of highest coffee producers in Asia. It produces 3.3% of total amount of coffee produced all around the world. 70% of coffee produced in India is exported. Italy, Germany and Belgium were top 3 importers of coffee from India during fiscal year 2017-2018. In fiscal year 2018, India exported 395,014 metric tons of coffee worth US$ 963.28 million.
India earned 45,106.89 crore rupees by exporting 13,77,244 tonnes of seafood during fiscal year 2017-18. USA and South East Asian countries are major importers of seafood from India. Shrimp exports increased by 30.26% in terms of quantity and 30.10% in terms of dollar.
- Gems and jewellery:
India is leading exporter of gems and jewellery. It contributes to 29% of global consumption of gems and jewellery. Gold jewellery shipments increased by 11 % to $9.67 billion in 2017-18.
