The Indian government has announced sports and yoga programs for the police department, to help the police officials remain healthy, active, and free from mental stress.
A police job is one of the toughest careers. If we take a look at the everyday life of a police officer, we all know that they have to go through so much mental stress, deal with the public’s issues, solve criminal cases, and put all their energy into solving complex cases.
Keeping in mind the stressful situations faced by police officers on a daily basis – Trivandrum government (the capital of the Southern Indian state of Kerala) has announced police fitness and mental relief programs across the city.
In a bill passed in this regard, the State Police Chief Loknath Behera has ordered SHOs of police stations across the city to arrange special yoga, fitness, and sports facilities for police officers. Each police station has been ordered to arrange physical activities for minimum 30-minutes for four days a week.
The circular issued by the State Police Chief has also recommended SHOs to organize sports events such as cricket or football matches on weekends and holidays.
“Police officials who are facing official or domestic issues shall be provided with proper counseling and physical training,” the SP further added.
According to the news sources, police officials will receive yoga classes from qualified experts and their mentoring will be done by India’s renowned teachers and scholars.
This is a great step by the Indian government to help police officials stay fresh, active, healthy, and tension-free. With no entertainment activities for the police, it is common for the personnel to get exhausted with their tough routines. So this is a really good initiative and also the dire need of the hour.
As per sources close to the police department, this same project will soon be launched in other Indian states and cities as well. The government is deeply concerned with the lifestyle of police officials and is now striving hard to revamp their daily lifestyle so that the officials keep serving the public with great zeal and vigor.
